Myrtle Beach High School has temporarily delayed their search for a new athletic director due to receiving a fine from the South Carolina High School League for ineligible players, according to an email sent out to the Myrtle Beach High community from Principal Kristin Altman.

In the email, Altman states that there were "eligibility issues" from 2024-2025 that the school self-reported. Myrtle Beach High received a fine related to the eligibility concerns, and Altman says she is in the process of appealing the fine.

Here's an excerpt from the email, obtained by MyHorry糖心vlog官方入口:

"In an effort to ensure you are kept in the loop, I am writing to keep you informed regarding a hiring process for our next Athletic Director - a role that is critical to the leadership and continued growth of our athletics program.

"At this time, a decision has been made to temporarily delay the hiring process. This decision comes as I address eligibility issues from last year that were self-reported to the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL). Myrtle Beach High School has received a fine related to these concerns, and I am currently in the process of appealing the fine."

The email goes on to say that Altman is "fully committed" to hiring the best possible leader for the Myrtle Beach athletic program. No timetable was given on the decision.

Myrtle Beach High School has been without an athletic director since longtime athletic director John Cahill stepped down in June. Cahill had previously been on administrative leave for "failure to complete job responsibilities" since May 7. He was set to resume work for Horry County Schools in a teaching role on July 1.聽

With the 2025-26 athletic and academic year set to begin in the matter of weeks, questions about the leadership of the Seahawk athletic department have circled around the community.聽

Myrtle Beach is currently set to host the 2025 CNB Kickoff Classic at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium on Aug. 15, with fall athletics practices also kicking into gear.

The hiring process was underway in previous weeks, but that has seemingly come to an abrupt halt with the news of the self-reported fines at Myrtle Beach.
