Spring has sprung, and we are all re-starting our irrigations systems. Did you know we in Waterford Plantation pay twice as much for water as our neighbors in SpringLake and other Carolina Forest communities?
Do you know why? There was a contract made in the 1970s between Grand Strand Water Authority and the City of Conway to build additional water infrastructure. We all have been paying for this for years and there is no sunset clause. We have been asking our S.C. delegation to address this issue.
A water bill in SpringLake for the same amount of water is half of what is charged to Waterford Plantation.
. Updates from the social committee: The first Waterford happy hour of the year is scheduled for Friday, June 15 at 6 p.m. at the pool/amenity center.
Future events (details to follow via the website and email blasts) will include Community Spirit Night on June 23 and a July 4 celebration.
Community Spirit Night will include a pre-arranged visit from Mr. Softee from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. when people pay for their own treats.
Bring your cornhole set down for some community fun.
All Waterford ladies are invited to the Wednesday, June 20 luncheon at noon at Copper’s, 201 Laurel St. in Conway. This is a price-fixed buffet for $12 that includes the buffet and soft beverage with tax and tip extra. Our hostess is Wendy Venza. RSVP to socialcommittee@waterfordmb.com by June 14.
Do we all want more events? If so, we need you to get involved. Volunteers for all social committee and future events are needed. Do you have an idea for an event? Volunteer at SocialCommittee@waterfordmb.com.
As you work in your yards, dispose of yard waste through your contracted recycler or a local solid waste center. Do not place yard waste on any common ground or undeveloped property.
Dumping of any material, solid or liquid, is a violation.
Have you seen dumping? If you see anyone dumping, contact 糖心vlog官方入口 Management.
All concerns will remain confidential and will be addressed.
The association will incur additional costs affecting every homeowner leading us all to future increased assessments.
Expenses we all incur which could be used for other benefits to our overall association.
Again, this will affect future assessments. Do not dump and report those that do.
Are you concerned as to the future of our unincorporated area of Horry County, namely Carolina Forest? How do we as residents and tax-paying homeowners get our say in future growth, re-zoning, future parks/open spaces, etc?
Plan to attend the next meeting of the IMAGINE 2040 Committee on Thursday, May 31 at 4:30 p.m. in the Horry County Justice Center on Second Avenue in Conway.
This committee has been meeting for several months about different land use scenarios.
Come on out and hear how the appointees are planning our future.
For more information, visit and Zoning/IMAGINE2040.
Did you know there is a primary election on June 12?
Are you registered to vote?
Every election counts whether it is a primary, special election or our annual November elections.
There are many issues ahead of us as residents regarding our roadways, infrastructure, stormwater, rezoning and more.
How can we make sure there is funding to extend Gardner Lacy to International Drive? How about rezoning? We need to ensure no new developments will be added around Waterford as they will impact us greatly.
Ask our candidates. Candidates elected will make decisions that affect us all, and we must vote to get our voices heard.
Please get out and vote, and take 10 of your neighbors with you. We must stand strong in Carolina Forest. We must beat apathy by getting out to vote.
Next time you go to your favorite restaurant, you may see a sign that says, 鈥淧roudly participating in Strand Strawless Summer.聽 No straws given unless requested by the customer).
Waterford resident Cathy Tourloukis and the other members of聽The Chirping Bird Society started this campaign to help decrease the amount of plastic litter that enters our ocean.聽
Cathy also is a member of Beautify Carolina Forest.
Without exception, plastic straws are found on the road and grass during her litter pick-ups, Usually, just a gust of wind away from the drainage ditch.聽 Birds, fish and land animals are eating plastic and dying. This campaign is just a small step to help with the plastic pollution problem.
