She graduated from Parker Rural High School in Parker, Kan., in 1944. She immediately entered business college on a scholarship. The college was in Kansas City, Mo. After about eight months, she took a civil service test and received a secretarial job in civil service working in an Army Supply Depot in Kansas City, Kan. This was during the war. After staying home for a while, she decided to go back to work as a keypunch operator for an office of Mutual Benefit Life Insurance in Kansas City, Mo.聽

She worked there for seven and one-half years and retired from there when her husband was going to retire from TWA.

Mildred and Harold moved to Myrtle Beach in 1998 to be near their son.

Her husband, Harold, preceded her in death on June 29, 2003. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Iven Wright; and her sister, Darlene Wright Collins.
