Betsy Rae Simpson

MYRTLE BEACH-A memorial service for Betsy Rae Simpson, 76, will be held Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. in Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Tiffany Slaughter.

Betsy passed away at her home in the Socastee community of Myrtle Beach July 19.

Born April 1, 1949 in New Milford, Pa., she was the daughter of聽 the late Albert Ernest Stockholm and the late Marzette Wilma Tennant Stockholm. Betsy was predeceased by her husband, Jack L. Simpson, as well as a brother and a sister.

Betsy is survived by her sister, Marzette E. Ryan of Myrtle Beach; her nieces, Marzette Colon, Christine Stockholm and Amy Stockholm Simpson; her nephews, Robert Ryan, Scott Stockholm, Brian Stockholm and Mark Young; and other extended family members and friends.

Betsy worked as an office manager in the medical field with chiropractic and orthopaedic doctors.

Both being widows, she and her sister, Marzette, lived together for several years in Gaston County, NC, where one of their favorite pastimes was reading at the public library.

She also took long walks with her dog, Sargie, as long as her health permitted. Betsy was an adventurous cook, often springing new creations from Facebook on Marzette and the family. Some of her other activities included spending time at the beach, camping and tending her flower garden. She enjoyed all types of music and was a diehard follower of the Young and the Restless.

The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the Grand Strand Humane Society, 4635 Factory Stores Blvd., Suite N-210, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579 or to Gaston County Animal Care, P. O. Box 479, Dallas, NC 28034.
