With his September trial date looming, a Myrtle Beach man entered a guilty plea Friday to second-offense drug trafficking charges.
Everett Ford, 37, of Myrtle Beach was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge Michael G. Nettles to 10 years in prison for trafficking cocaine, and 10 years for possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.
The sentences will be served concurrently, according to a news release from the South Carolina 15th Judicial District solicitor鈥檚 office. Ford must serve at least 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
Ford was arrested on Nov. 9, 2022 by South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents with the assistance of Myrtle Beach police officers.
A search warrant was served at his home following a lengthy investigation and 鈥渓arge quantities鈥 of cocaine and crack cocaine were found, along with firearms and other illegal narcotics, the news release stated.
The case was prosecuted by 15th District Assistant Solicitor David Beamer, who thanked SLED and the Myrtle Beach Police Department for their investigation.
鈥淪entences like this are important to show that Horry County stands against this type of criminal activity,鈥 Beamer said.
