A motorcyclist was killed in a collision that happened in the Carolina Forest area Tuesday morning, authorities said.
The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Ryan Mancuso from the Myrtle Beach area, said Horry County deputy coroner Darris Fowler. Mancuso died at the scene from multiple trauma received during the accident, Fowler said.
The collision involving a motorcycle and a car occurred around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of Gardner Lacy Road and Postal Way, said Cpl. Sonny Collins with S.C. Highway Patrol.
A Yamaha motorcycle was heading East on Gardner Lacy Road when a Honda car turned from Gardner Lacy Road onto Postal Way in front of the motorcycle, causing the crash to happen, Collins said.
As a result of the wreck, the individual driving the motorcycle, who was wearing a helmet, was killed, Collins said.
The driver of the car was transported to a hospital for injuries sustained in the wreck and has been charged with failure to yield the right of way, Collins stated.
