An Aynor man will serve 30 years in prison for the murder of an Horry County woman, and received a second 30-year sentence that will be served concurrently for shooting and injuring one of the woman鈥檚 daughters.
Dimik Stevenson, 20, of Aynor, entered a guilty plea to both charges, and was sentenced by 15th Circuit Court Judge David Caraker on Thursday, Aug. 14. He will not be eligible for parole, and must serve the entire 30 years.
According to a news release from 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson, the charges stemmed from the May 4, 2023 shooting death of 40-year-old Sadiyya Salim.
Salim was gunned down outside her home in the 700 block of Plantation Drive, according to a MyHorry糖心vlog官方入口 story on May 5, 2023. She sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
Stevenson also shot and wounded one of Salim鈥檚 three daughters in the leg.
The 30-year sentence was the minimum sentence for murder. Stevenson had no prior criminal history, and was a minor at the time the crime was committed. He was also originally charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime, but that charge was dropped.
鈥淭he state appreciates that the defendant accepted responsibility for his role in this tragic killing,鈥 said Senior Assistant Solicitor Mary-Ellen Walter, who prosecuted the case.
Walter thanked the Horry County Police Department and HCPD Detective Sean Wydra for conducting the investigation.
Co-defendant Haley Taylor of Conway entered a guilty plea to accessory after the fact to murder, and was sentenced to seven years in prison by Caraker.
Another co-defendant in the case, Elijah Hebert of Aynor, pleaded guilty last year and received a 15-year prison sentence.
