Mar'25 HTC

The March HTC Community Hero of the Month is Phil Pampani, general manager of Red Robin. Pampani has worked at Red Robin since 2009.

Pampani was nominated as HTC Community Hero of the Month by one of his employees because he sprung to action in an emergency situation and helped save a life.

Originally from New Jersey, Pampani graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2005. He and his wife, also a CCU alumni, got married in 2016 and together they share a 6-year-old son and a 1 and 1/2 year-old son.

鈥淥utside of the house, Red Robin is pretty much my life,鈥 Pampani said.

April marks 16 years of Pampani working at Red Robin.

Before working in the restaurant industry, Pampani worked at a Napa Auto Parts distributor while in high school.

In 2002, he started working at Ruby Tuesday鈥檚 as a salad bar assistant. At Ruby Tuesday鈥檚 he worked his way up to kitchen manager and in 2009 he was recruited to Red Robin. He worked as an assistant manager and is now the general manager. Pampani has worked in a management partner role at Red Robin for the last 11 years.

鈥淚t keeps me young. I like to say that,鈥 he said.

Two of his employees, Adam and Bri, are husband and wife and share three kids. Bri has been a team member at Red Robin for almost four years and has been battling cancer on and off.

One day during her shift she had to sit down because she started to not feel well and was fading in and out of levels of consciousness, he said.

Pampani called the EMTs and sat with Adam and Bri and talked with her while they waited for help to arrive. They were trying to keep her alert and conscious, until she started to have a seizure. Bri came to when the EMTs arrived and she was stable long enough to get to the hospital to get treatment.

Pampani drove Adam to and from the hospital.

鈥淚 was able to keep him as centered and mindful of the situation as I could,鈥 he said.

Employees at Red Robin aren鈥檛 just co-workers, they鈥檙e a work family. The restaurant has a very supportive and caring staff, he said.

Some nights, team members would donate their tips to Adam and Bri鈥檚 family to help them during this time.

鈥淲e do whatever we have to do to support our team,鈥 Pampani said. 鈥淭his is what we do for each other on a daily basis.鈥

Through another team member, Pampani learned about the nonprofit organization Let鈥檚 Connect the Dots, which assists families that are going through cancer diagnoses and treatments.

The local director of the organization, Marisol Martinez, is the mother of an employee at Red Robin. Pampani serves as a local advisor for the organization.

The organization accepts donations from those who are looking to support people going through cancer treatments and they can choose how they help, and where their donation will be used. The organization also helps connect people. The ultimate goal is connecting people who are willing to help with people who need the help.

The organization has been able to help Adam, Bri and their family during their battle with cancer.

鈥淚t was unbelievable how fast they were able to work,鈥 he said.

Another organization that Pampani volunteers for is the American Heart Association, specifically during their annual Beach Ride event.

Pampani鈥檚 wife is the executive director for the Beach Ride event and he volunteers for the organization throughout the year.

The Beach Ride is a fundraising event that takes place at Lakewood Camping Resort each year.

Pampani uses his vacation time from Red Robin during this week to volunteer at the event.

During the event he has worked registration and check in, has been at the water station giving horses water, cleaning up areas and even MC鈥檌ng the awards night.

鈥淲hatever needs to be done, I will do,鈥 he said.

People travel with their horse to Myrtle Beach from all over the country and Canada. The goal of the event is to raise awareness for heart disease and strokes while raising money for the cause.

鈥淚t鈥檚 such a unique event and such a great culture of people,鈥 Pampani said.

Pampani and his team at Red Robin try to be as involved in the community as they can.

They have supported different organizations including Special Olympics and Make A Wish and are always open to supporting and helping local organizations in our area.

From this experience, Pampani hopes that others learn that you have to be a good person in our world and that life can be difficult. By working together you can help people get through tough times.

鈥淵ou never know what someone is going through," he said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 the little things that add up to big things in our world sometimes.鈥

HTC will make a $350 donation to the American Heart Association Beach Ride event and a $100 Amazon gift card to Phil for being our chosen Hero of the Month. To make your nominations for the HTC Community of the Month, visit .
